Das xBoot by NoLimit City

Can you still remember the West German war movie “Das Boot” directed by Wolfgang Petersen and released in 1981? Okay, it’s an old movie but one of the more popular war-themed movies in the 1980s. It was based on the true story of a German submarine and its crew and explored those on board’s chilling experience and struggle. Now the story comes to life on the reels thanks to NoLimit City’s Das xBoot slot. With 576 ways to win, which can grow to 75,712, this highly volatile slot revisits the classic movie and story for the new audience.

This game is rather unique and comes with a navy feel to it. It uses an odd playing grid, and the symbols and theme are rendered in a cartoonish way. But don’t let its design fool you into thinking that it is a lightweight game. It’s still a NoLimit City production, and in my initial review of the game, I found a few exciting features that can keep you happy. This game comes with an xNudge Wild, xWays and the xBomb Wild Multiplier. Players can also count on the Silent Hunter Spins and the Wolf Pack Spins that are set up like a submarine’s torpedo aiming for the target. With its extreme volatility and a top payout of up to 55,200x your bet, Das xBoot slot sets you up for an exciting hunt for prizes.

Das xBoot- What You Need to Know

NoLimit City goes to war, at least in designing and producing a highly entertaining slot machine. In this game, the vendor retains some of its standard features, including the xNudge and the xWild, and adds a few extras. To get a better understanding of this game, we start by listing its pros and cons, which are shown below:

  • Comes with an almost cartoonish feel
  • Boasts the xNudge Wilds, xWays and the xBomb Wild Multiplier
  • Offers two types of free spins- the Silent Hunter Spins and the Wolf Pack Spins
  • Feature Buy functionality is available
  • Players can win up to 55,200x your bet

  • This NoLimit City slot comes in two RTP- 96.03% and 94.04%
  • An extremely volatile slot machine

Das xBoot- Theme and Background

This slot machine revisits the award-winning German war movie Das Boot that was released in 1981. In this online slot, the same war theme and thrilling background are retained. As you make your random spins, you can hear the suspenseful music reminiscent of the soundtrack used in many war movies. Also, this online slot retains the mood and environment used in the film, and it even makes use of the submarine its main thematic element. The action takes place under the sea and lets you meet the crew of the ill-fated German submarine.

In Das xBoot slot, the main paying symbols are the crew members, including the Chef, Engineer, Radio Guy, the Captain, and the Periscope Operators. Just like in real life, the game’s most valuable symbol is the Kapitanleutnant, who heads the crew and pays up to 20x your bet for six matching symbols.

Das xBoot- Gameplay

NoLimit City does it again in delivering a unique and highly engaging slot machine. What I notice about this game is that it throws in some standard features found in many NoLimit City to come up with an action-packed game. Das xBoot relies on an odd 2-3-4-4-3-2 grid with the “Spin” button on the right side of the screen and the Buy Feature on the left. Your mission in this slot machine is to collect at least three identical symbols from the first reel. At the start of the game, you will play with 576 ways to win, but this can grow up to 75,712.

In this slot, your bets can start at 0.25 up to 25.00 credits as the maximum bet. You can change your bet before every spin by clicking on the ‘$’ sign at the bottom left portion of the screen. As mentioned, this NoLimit City comes with a Buy Feature option that’s represented by the yellow star on the left side of the screen. If you bet the minimum, the cost of eight Silent Hunter Spins is 18.75, while it costs you 87.50 credits to buy eight Wolf Pack Spins.

Das xBoot- Free Spins feature

This slot machine sets you up for an action-packed adventure courtesy of its two Free Spins bonuses.  Your ticket to these bonuses is the Sonar Display that works as the Scatter and will only appear on the second to the fifth reels.  Collecting three Sonar Display Scatters will activate eight Silent Hunter Free Spins, and if you land four, you get eight Wolf Pack Free Spins. Although these are both the same bonus, there are subtle differences between the two that every player should know.

  • Silent Hunter Free Spins. Once activated, the third reel grows to eight positions and forms a periscope, and a Periscope Wild may appear on it. If you get matching symbols on the first two reels and a Periscope Wild on the third, the game’s torpedo launch starts, and the Win Multiplier increases by 1. Now, you add an extra Scatter on the screen; this rewards you with two more free games.
  • Wolf Pack Free Spins. In this bonus, you will find a torpedo tube that lands under second to the fifth reels. If a Torpedo Wild lands on the reels, it will drop an xWays symbol. The xWays will start on x2 and increase by 1 for every Torpedo Wilds up to a maximum of x9. If all four positions of the torpedo are occupied, the game will reveal the xWays symbols. Again, landing an extra Scatter on the screen will reward you with two more free games.

Das xBoot- My Verdict

This game is a bit complex due to its odd grid, but it still satisfies the requirements of players thanks to its cinematic theme and exciting features. Yes, the game has a war theme, but NoLimit City tries to soften this by offering cartoonish visuals. This style in no way diminishes the appeal of the game, and I think it even adds value to the overall production. Also, this slot recycles some of the standard NoLimit City slots, such as the xWays and xNudge Wild. But this repetition of features is saved by the availability of two types of Free Spins round that’s designed like a fight on the open seas!
